„At first, when I started to work as a football coach in our village, only boys used to come to the training. When I first said that girls should also come, it caused an awful fuss: boys seemed bewildered asking how could that be, saying that there was no place for girls in football and things like that. “- says Aram, the protagonist of our video story.
Aram lives in Tsitelsopeli village of Marneuli municipality. Neighboring villages populated with ethnic Armenians, Azerbaijanis and Georgians are just 17 steps away from each other.
For instance, the village Maradisi is also 17 steps away from Aram’s village. In the Georgian-language school Natia and Nino Guseinovas are studying. They also formed the girls’ football team and make their own contribution to strengthening women and promoting gender equality in this region.
