On December 27, TDI has officially applied to Internal Audit Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia with the request to study the fact of potential discrimination towards the 12^th  grade student at Mokhe public school and to respond adequately.

TDI also calls on the Ministry to discuss whether the competence and qualifications of the acting principal of the school meets the professional standards set by the regulations.

The Internal Audit Department under the Ministry of Education and Science is the institution responsible for monitoring the fulfillment of the legal requirements at public schools. According to the Minister’s Resolution N89/N, the Ministry is obliged to study the facts of the alleged violation of the Law of Georgia on General Education or other relevant legislation and to react to them accordingly.

Pursuant to the mentioned resolution, Internal Audit Department was obliged to start studying the fact of potential discrimination at Mokhe public school and react to it on it’s own initiative. It has to be mentioned that the grounds for starting the research of similar cases by the Ministry can be not only the complaint of potential victim but the information disseminated through media outlets.
